Ahead of spooky season, Six Flags Great Adventure is kicking off efforts to hire scare actors and performers for its signature Fright Fest event.
To help bring Fright Fest to life this year, the Jackson-based theme park said it is searching for individuals willing to be transformed into ghouls who roam the property and give guests a thrill.
Scheduled to run Sept. 12–Nov. 2 on select nights, Fright Fest is one of Six Flags’ most popular events. The lineup includes haunted attractions, scare zones and live Halloween-themed shows.

To cross over to the dark side and become a ghoul, applicants must demonstrate they can perform the following job duties during an in-person audition:
- Jumping out at guests from the darkest corners of haunted mazes and scare zones
- Performing at special park functions
- Greeting “victims” in the scariest way possible
According to Six Flags, ghouls must meet several requirements, including be:
- At least 16 years old
- Able to stand, walk, kneel and crouch for extended periods in varied weather conditions, including heat, cold and rain
- Able to perform in an enclosed costume with limited sight lines
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The hourly pay rate for the part-time position is $17.50, the listing says.
Scare tactics welcome
Ryan Eldredge, Six Flags regional public relations manager, said, “Fright Fest is one of our most iconic events of the year, and it’s our ghouls that make it unforgettable. We’re looking for outgoing performers ready to scare, entertain, and deliver an experience that will keep guests coming back for more screams.”
The park did not say how many ghouls it is hiring.
Job perks include complimentary park admission, tickets for friends and family, in-park discounts on food and merchandise and free meals on summer holidays, like Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.
They can also take advantage of exclusive ride parties, professional development programs and scholarship opportunities.
