Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Locals 4 & 5 endorsed Republican Jack Ciattarelli for governor on Friday.
The building trades union represents thousands of skilled construction workers across the state, according to the announcement.
“While others talk about cracking down on the underground construction economy and supporting working families, Jack is offering a plan to protect our jobs, restore integrity to the construction industry, and invest in our infrastructure that keeps New Jersey strong,” the union’s Director John F. Capo and Secretary Treasurer Leon Jones Jr. said in a release.
Ciattarelli will face Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) in November’s general election.
“Working families built this state, and they deserve leaders who will fight for them, not just talk about it,” Ciattarelli said. “For too long, bad actors and illegal immigrants have gamed the system while honest contractors and skilled workers get pushed aside. While my opponent wants to maintain that status quo, that ends when I’m Governor. We’re going to enforce our laws, invest in our infrastructure, and make sure that when New Jersey builds, we build it right with union labor that gets paid what they’re worth.”
