The National Weather Service released a flood warning at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday in effect until Sunday at 4 a.m. for Burlington, Mercer, Middlesex and Monmouth counties.
The weather service describes, “Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected for portions of New Jersey, including in central New Jersey, Mercer and Monmouth counties. In northern New Jersey, Middlesex. In southern New Jersey, Burlington.”
“Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring,” comments the weather service. “Don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.”
