Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is launching its second New Jersey shop.
Scheduled to open Sept. 30 at 14 Lincoln Place in Madison, the franchise serves premium coffee sourced from Hawaii, blended drinks, handcrafted energy drinks, signature lattes, cold brews and teas. Its menu also includes breakfast and lunch sandwiches made with King’s Hawaiian sweet bread, as well as baked goods, such as parfait muffins and malasada doughnuts.
The brand got its start 36 years ago on the Big Island of Hawaii. In 2018, it relaunched under new ownership and leadership. Now focused on aggressive franchise sales and development, the 35-plus unit brand says it expects to open 14 more cafés by the end of the year.
It also reported having an additional 63 shops in various stages of development across the U.S.
Tom Soper launched Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii’s first shop in New Jersey earlier this year in Hackensack.
Closer to home
In Madison, father-son team Jim Bowman and Tyler Bowman will open their first of six planned Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii locations. According to the brand, Jim Bowman, a seasoned entrepreneur with a background in technology and franchising, and Tyler Bowman, a 20-year veteran of the hospitality and entertainment industry, discovered the chain in Florida and wanted to bring it closer to home.
Additional details were not available on where their other stores will be located.
Commenting on the upcoming opening, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii CEO Scott Snyder said the brand is “very excited to become an active member of the Madison, N.J., community.”
“We’re fortunate to have such experienced and committed franchise partners in Jim & Tyler Bowman to bring a new premium Hawaiian coffee experience to life in Madison. With the new location in the center of the transportation hub, there will be no better way to ‘make it a badass day’ than by starting that day at Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii.”
The Madison location is open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store offers dine-in and mobile to-go options, as well as a loyalty program.
Customers who enroll as members will also receive $5 and 89 points after their first purchase.
A two-day grand opening celebration featuring giveaways, games and coffee will take place soon. The event will include a giveback initiative with a charity partner, according to the chain.
