As Zallie Family Markets prepares to open a brand-new ShopRite at Cherrywood Plaza in Gloucester Township, the supermarket operator is looking to fill full- and part-time jobs.
According to the grocer, available positions include deli clerks, bakers, cake decorators, food service clerks, frozen foods clerks, grocery clerks, meat cutter clerks, meat wrapper clerks and seafood clerks.
Zallie Family Markets did not specify how many positions it is hiring for. However, on its website, the operator said it typically has between 30 to 50 employees per site who are cross-trained throughout the store.
A member of Keasbey-based retailer co-op Wakefern Food Corp., Zallie Family Markets owns and operates 11 ShopRite locations in South Jersey and one in Philadelphia.
In May 2023, the company completed a remodel of ShopRite of Glassboro, which marked the store’s first major renovation since opening over 25 years ago. A few weeks later, it opened a new ShopRite in Woolwich Township to replace an older store in Gibbstown.
Zallie Family Markets recently received local approval to expand its location in West Deptford, too, according to The Courier Post.
Hot bar and more
In Gloucester Township, the state-of-the-art 75,000-square-foot store will include many offerings that are popular in other stores owned and operated by the family-run grocer, such as:
- Hot food bar and international cheese department
- Wok station and sushi department
- Floral and gift department
- Pharmacy
- Zallie’s Fresh Kitchen catering
It will also have an area dedicated to ShopRite’s online shopping service, according to Zallie Family Markets. A grand opening date was not announced, but the company said it is expected for 2025.
The upcoming store will replace the existing ShopRite of Laurel Hill less than a mile away. That site launched in 1973 as the company’s first supermarket in the region.
At Cherrywood Plaza, ShopRite takes over a space that has been vacant since Kmart closed in 2017.
