The 15th annual Pirate Pride and Spirit Golf Outing, the proceeds of which benefit the Brian “Maynard” Welsh Pirate Pride and Spirit Scholarship for West Windsor-Plainsboro High South students, will be held Monday, Oct. 20 at the Princeton Country Club, 1 Wheeler Way, Princeton, NJ 08540-5915.
A scramble format will be used for the golf outing, which is designed to keep play fun and fast-paced, even for less experienced golfers. Teams are usually made up of four players. Everyone on a team hits a tee shot on each hole. The team decides which of the four balls is in the best position. All players then hit their next shot from that chosen spot (placing the ball within a club length, but not closer to the hole). This process continues until the ball is holed. The team’s score for the hole is based on the number of strokes taken from the chosen positions.
The event begins with an 8 a.m. registration, check in and breakfast at the site. Breakfast burritos, coffee and tea will be available. There will also be free use of the driving range to warm up.
There will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Hot dogs, beer and chips will be provided at the turn.
At 1:30 p.m., awards and contest prizes will be awarded, including a $10,000 hole-in-one prize courtesy of FISH CLOTHING. A putting contest is open to all, courtesy of Appliance Brokers Limited.
Golfers are still needed for the event to help fund the scholarship.
