Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Tenafly), refocusing his attention on his House seat after a run for governor earlier this year, raised $525,405 in the 3rd quarter of 2025 and ended the quarter with nearly $9.4 million on-hand.
Gottheimer – long dubbed the “Human Fundraising Machine” – went into 2025 with more than $20 million in his campaign account, making him one of the best-funded House members in the entire country.
During his bid for the governorship, he funneled nearly $12 million of that warchest into a super PAC that was supporting his campaign. As the Democratic primary wore on, however, Gottheimer decided not to put all of his congressional account’s millions into the super PAC, ultimately leaving a little under $9 million in the account.
Gottheimer is now running for re-election in the 5th district seat he’s held since 2017, and he’s starting to fundraise in earnest for that effort – but he’ll be the favorite to win regardless of how much money he has.
The 5th district, squarely located in the expensive New York City media market, only narrowly voted for Kamala Harris last year, making it one of the most closely divided districts in the country. Gottheimer, though, won re-election by double digits in both 2022 and 2024, and Republicans do not seem to be actively targeting the district in 2026; the GOP field thus far consists of two little-known candidates, Sean Kirrane and Sandy Gajapathy.
