The state’s largest hospitality workers’ union has endorsed Democrat Mikie Sherrill in the New Jersey Governor’s race.
UNITE HERE Local 54, which has thousands of New Jersey members in the hotel, gaming, and food service industries, praised the four-term congresswoman’s record of standing with union workers.
“From advocating for livable wages and safe working conditions to pushing for economic justice, she has stood with workers. Between skyrocketing utility costs, a Federal Government that seems hell bent on attacking working people and an affordability crisis, we know that New Jersey workers are facing real challenges,” said the union president, Donna DeCaprio. “We know that Mikie will confront all these challenges and place the needs of working people first.”
DeCaprio said her union has over 1000 volunteers canvassing for Sherrill.
“New Jersey needs a governor who doesn’t just talk about supporting workers — but shows up, listens, and gets things done,” DeCaprio stated. “That’s Mikie Sherrill, and that’s why our members are all in.”
