On Friday, Oct. 17, the Rescue Mission of Trenton will unveil its Community Wellness Center, a space dedicated to building community, cultivating partnerships, and nurturing wellness, with a celebratory ribbon cutting.
The facility will house part of the Mission’s Pathway2Wellness program – which offers clients access to an array of mental health programming – and will also serve as an event space for the Mission and partner agencies to host wellness activities, resource fairs, and workshops.
The center was created through a grant from the NJ Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
“The Rescue Mission of Trenton does not only aim to house and feed people, but we also work to nurture the entire individual and provide them with resources that will improve their mental and physical wellbeing,” CEO Barrett Young said.
“This new Wellness Center will serve as a community hub for healing and personal improvement, and we and we cannot wait to see how this will benefit our city.
The Mission’s Pathway2Wellness program offers an array of mental health services to clients on a weekly basis. Offerings include individual therapeutic support, support groups, grief counselling, job development and resume workshops, financial literacy sessions, and much more.

The Rescue Mission of Trenton surpassed its fundraising record by bringing in nearly $130,000 from its annual miniature golf tournament. The tournament is the Mission’s biggest fundraising event of the year, and the funds will be used to continue the essential work of providing housing, food, stability, and transformative opportunities for the people of Trenton.
“The amount of money we were able to raise this year is astounding and it goes to show that our community cares about the work we are doing here at the Mission,” CEO Barrett Young said. “Thank you to our donors who have made a profound difference on our ability to address the urgent needs of housing, healthcare, food security, and addiction treatment here in Trenton.”
During Friday’s event, attendees also heard from Rosario D., a client of the Mission who recently graduated from New Direction, a revolutionary program offered by the Mission that provides participants with treatment, education and job development and has produced wonderful results. Since the program began in 2021, nearly 65% of participants found employment after leaving the Mission.
“My experiences at the Mission, the cherry on top called New Direction, have been lifesaving,” Rosario said. “I finally feel safe; safe enough to dream again and to chase my dream of becoming the awesome chef I know I can be. I am 58 years old, and I know that you are never too old to learn.”
Patrick L. Ryan, one of the 2025 honorees and president, CEO and founding director of First Bank, discussed the importance of supporting an organization like to the Rescue Mission of Trenton.
“The Rescue Mission of Trenton’s record-breaking tournament is more than just a fundraising milestone; it reflects the generosity and compassion of this community,” Ryan said. “With nearly $130,000 raised, the Mission can continue its vital work providing food, shelter, healthcare, and opportunity to those who need it most. Rosario’s story shows the real impact of these efforts, and we’re proud to stand with an organization that’s truly changing lives and strengthening Trenton every day.”
