The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey selected Boingo Wireless to deliver next-generation cellular and free public Wi-Fi networks across its facilities. The deal includes airports, PATH stations, seaports, tunnels and the Midtown Bus Terminal.
The long-term agreement runs through 2038 with an option to extend to 2043. The agency says the partnership underscores its commitment to building a smarter, more connected regional transportation network that enhances passenger experience as well as operational efficiency.
Boingo, a leader in 5G and Wi-Fi connectivity, has partnered with the Port Authority since 1999. The collaboration has helped Newark Liberty, JFK and LaGuardia airports achieve top rankings for connectivity.

Under the new contract, Boingo will significantly expand and upgrade neutral host 5G, Wi-Fi and private network infrastructure to meet modern standards of speed, quality and security.
Key details of the agreement:
- Upgrades and expands 5G and Wi-Fi networks across all Port Authority facilities
- Continued free Wi-Fi for the traveling public
- Converged networks supporting mission-critical functions, public safety and enhanced passenger experience
- Neutral host 5G supporting all major carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon
- High-level security with encryption, traffic segmentation and 24/7 monitoring
Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole said that connectivity is as essential to travel today as runways, railroads and roadways.
“Our commitment to strengthening our digital infrastructure ensures that the millions of people who rely on our facilities each day experience secure, high-speed connectivity that keeps pace with modern expectations,” said O’Toole.
