Trey Tagliaferri threw touchdown passes to four different receivers as he completed 19-of-23 attempts for 238 yards and four TDs, fueling Bergen Catholic, No. 3 in the NJ.com to a 40-0 victory over Seton Hall Prep at Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field in West Orange.
Tagliaferri, a sophomore, opened the scoring for Bergen Catholic (7-2) with a 14-yard TD pass to Anthony Willis in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Tagliaferri connected with Bryan Porter for a 16-yard TD that made it 13-0. Porter ran for an 18-yard score before Tagliaferri’s 12-yard TD pass to Jamel Hammary pushed the lead to 26-0 at halftime.
Walker Snee ran for a 9-yard TD before Tagliaferri capped off the scoring with a 12-yard TD pass to Austin Busso in the third quarter.
Busso finished with six receptions for 75 yards while Hammary had five catches for 74 yards. As a team, Bergen Catholic ran for 240 yards, led by Dante Kain (8 for 89 rushing) and Najee Calhoun (12 for 72).
Taylor Daniels made 12 tackles for Seton Hall Prep (3-6) while Matthew Bednarski and Michael Hug added 10 each.
