Democrats held their majority on the Gloucester County Board of Commissioners, beating Republicans in the race for two seats.
Incumbent Frank DiMarco (66,154) and his running mate, Clayton Mayor Tom Bianco (64.319), lead their Republican opponents: former Sheriff Jonathan Sammons (56,903) and businessman Byron Driscoll (56,968)
Democrats maintain a 5-2 majority; Republicans would have needed to elect Sammons and Driscoll to take the majority.
DiMarco is completing his seventh term as a county commissioner; he was elected in 2004 after serving as a Deptford councilman. Bianco, who lost a bid for county commissioner last year, was a late addition to the Democratic ticket; he was selected this summer after incumbent Denice DiCarlo changed her mind about running again.
Democrats tried to clandestinely implement office-block ballots for the general election, blunting the effect of the GOP “line.” They almost got away with it after a Superior Court judge validated their move, but appellate court judges saw the matter differently and removed the ballot advantage they were seeking, though by that point it was too late to change vote-by-mail ballots.
