Cranford-based medical cannabis benefit program provider Bennabis Health is rebranding as Bennabix.
In a Nov. 5 news release announcing the name change, the startup said it believes the move reflects its “mission to transform how medical cannabis is accessed and embraced within modern health care.”
Bennabix co-founder and President Don Parisi said, “We didn’t just change a letter. We’re changing the future of care. The ‘X’ in Bennabix represents a new crossroads in healthcare, where science, affordability and access meet. It’s also about helping every patient find their ‘X’ which symbolizes their relief, their path forward, their better quality of life.”
Launched in 2020, Bennabix works to fill holes in the health insurance industry with membership programs that offer patients discounts to help lower the out-of-pocket cost of medical cannabis.
Big-name partners
Along with solutions for the growing number of patients turning to medical cannabis for chronic conditions like pain, anxiety, insomnia and PTSD, Bennabix works with major insurance carriers to give public employees the ability to access the substance as an alternative treatment option for their health plans.
Within New Jersey, Bennabix has already partnered with Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey to give financial support for medical marijuana products to municipal workers in Trenton and school district employees in Orange and Teaneck.
It also has a workers’ compensation cannabis reimbursement program for injured workers through a partner dispensary in New Mexico.

Bennabix CEO John Agos remarked, “As the demand for alternative therapies continues to grow, the health care system must evolve to meet patients where they are. Bennabix is answering that call by offering a trusted bridge between traditional care and modern relief.”
