Assemblywoman-elect Katie Brennan on Monday endorsed Hoboken Councilwoman Emily Jabbour in the runoff mayoral election in Hoboken.
Brennan will represent the 32nd legislative district, which includes Hoboken and parts of Jersey City, along with outgoing Hoboken Mayor and Assemblyman-elect Ravi Bhalla, next year. Jabbour faces Councilman Michael Russo in the Dec. 2 runoff.
“I know Emily has the leadership and the executive experience to get things done for Hoboken,” Brennan said. “Hoboken has two choices on December 2nd and there is an obvious pick; vote Emily Jabbour for affordability, transparency, and great leadership.”
Brennan won a crowded primary against slates of opponents that were backed by Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop and the Hudson County Democratic Organization.
“I’m honored to have her support,” Jabbour said. “Like me, Katie believes that Hoboken deserves a mayor who puts residents first, governs with integrity, and fights every day to keep our city affordable and thriving.”
Also endorsing Jabbour is Dini Ajmani, a former assistant state treasurer who finished fifth in the first round of the Hoboken mayoral election. Ajmani received about 13% of the vote.
“While I recognize that I differ with Councilwoman Jabbour on some policy, I see her as hardworking and deeply committed to serving Hoboken residents,” Ajmani said. “My hope is that she assembles a strong team at City Hall.”
