UPDATE: Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson has been ruled out of the Lions’ game with a foot injury.
###
PHILADELPHIA — Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson suffered a foot injury during the first quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Detroit Lions at Lincoln Financial Field and has been ruled questionable to return.
Johnson went into the medical tent after Philadelphia’s third drive and exited to the locker room with trainers by his side.
Johnson suffered an ankle injury in second quarter of the Eagles’ victory over the Green Bay Packers last week and didn’t come back into the game until the fourth quarter.
If Johnson doesn’t return against the Lions, Philadelphia’s struggling offense could reel badly. Backup Fred Johnson has replaced Lane Johnson at right tackle and could finish out the game.
Fred Johnson has filled in as a starter three times this season after Lane Johnson left with injuries in the Eagles’ Week 3 victory against the Los Angeles Rams, against the Packers last week and versus Detroit tonight. He has played 119 offensive snaps, with the majority of those recently coming as an extra blocker.
Last season, Fred Johnson started six games for the Eagles. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars this past offseason, but he was traded back to the Eagles prior to the season.
