Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill (D-Montclair)’s campaign for New Jersey’s 11th congressional district unveiled another union endorsement today: from the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers New Jersey State Legislative Board.
“Brendan knows firsthand the challenges NJ Transit workers confront every day and has been on the frontlines with us during contract negotiations,” BLET State Legislative Board Chairman Ray Vigil said in a statement. “He’s been a tireless champion for a stronger, more reliable transit system that serves working families and low-income communities.”
Gill is one of 12 Democratic candidates and counting running in the special election to succeed Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill; the special Democratic primary will arrive on February 5.
Of those dozen Democrats, Gill has received the lion’s share of labor support thus far; he also has endorsements from the Communication Workers of America Local 1031, the Hotel & Gaming Trades Council, the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association, and the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union Local 108.
