Passaic County Commissioner John Bartlett (D-Wayne) has picked up the support of the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association (PAPBA) in his campaign for New Jersey’s 11th congressional district.
“John’s proven commitment to community, public safety, and essential infrastructure projects has earned our endorsement,” PAPBA President Frank Conti said in a statement. “We know John as a trusted advisor with the highest ethical standards, and we know he has so much more to contribute to our state and our nation. We wish him the greatest success in his campaign.”
Bartlett is one of 13 Democrats (and counting) seeking to succeed Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill in the 11th district special election, with the Democratic primary arriving on February 5.
The PAPBA, which represents officers in the Port Authority Police Department, is the first union to endorse Bartlett. Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill (D-Montclair) has received a number of union endorsements, while former 7th district Rep. Tom Malinowski said last week that he’s been endorsed by the Sheet Metal Air Rail and Transportation Workers Transportation Division.
