Friday will be the calm before the storm. The forecast is calling for snow to arrive in the area Saturday night.
“The balance of today should be notably less brutal than yesterday, with winds mostly staying in the 10-15 mph range with notably lower and fewer gusts,” the Mount Holly, New Jersey, National Weather Service forecast discussion said Friday morning. “With some sun and slightly warmer day-time highs compared to yesterday, it should feel considerably more comfortable outside.”
The discussion indicated a low pressure area over the Upper Great Lakes will push a cold front into southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey on Saturday night, bringing some snow. The amount of snow appears as if it will increase from northwest to southeast, the NWS forecasters said.
“Overall though, looks like 1-3 inches of snow across nearly the entire area with an area of 4 inches possible,” the NWS said. “Total snowfall amounts should be held down some as this system is a quick mover. This is currently looking like a Winter Weather Advisory event for at least portions of our area.”
The service had not issued the advisory as of 11:30 a.m. Friday, but indicated it likely would.
