The basics:
- Walmart converted its East Windsor store into a full-service Supercenter
- Renovations added grocery, deli, bakery and expanded pickup services
- The project created about 60 jobs, bringing total staff to 245
- The remodel is part of Walmart’s broader New Jersey investment strategy
As the holiday shopping season ramps up, Walmart is unveiling another newly remodeled store in New Jersey.
Through a series of upgrades, the retail giant’s 20-year-old location in East Windsor was converted from a traditional format into a full-service Supercenter, according to the company.
Remaining at more than 148,000 square feet, the Route 130 site’s enhanced layout now includes:
- New deli and bakery departments offering freshly prepared foods and baked goods
- Larger grocery department with more fresh produce, meat, dairy and frozen items
- Updated vision center and pharmacy with private consultation room
- Refreshed signage, finishes and restrooms
- Expanded online pickup and delivery services
- Improved break rooms for associates with added comfort and accessibility
The additions created about 60 jobs, bringing total employment at the Supercenter to 245 workers, Walmart said.
During the 10-month renovation, the store stayed open for shopping.
To celebrate the project’s completion, Walmart held a Dec. 13 grand reopening featuring giveaways and entertainment from country musician Filmore and DJ Sharad. Festivities included the donation of $2,000 to The Partnerships for America, a Trenton-headquartered organization focused on mentoring, educational and recreational programs for youth.
Nationwide effort
Store manager Manish Parmar described the upgrade as “a big win for the East Windsor community.”
“We’re proud to now offer everything our customers need – from fresh groceries to everyday essentials – all in one place, making it easier for the community to save money and live better. I’m grateful to our associates for their dedication and excited for our customers to experience everything this new Supercenter has to offer,” Parmar said.

The remodel is part of an ongoing effort to enhance the overall shopping experience announced earlier this year at more than 650 of Walmart’s 4,600 stores across the U.S.
The company has already invested $120 million to renovate stores throughout New Jersey over the past five years. Along with unveiling flagship Supercenter designs in Secaucus, North Bergen and Teterboro, Walmart has updated sites in Vineland, Freehold, Kearny, Bayonne, East Brunswick, Burlington, Vineland and Linden.
The East Windsor store’s transformation brings the total number of Supercenters in New Jersey to 36. The company also has 26 general merchandise stores and eight Sam’s Club locations across the state.
In a LinkedIn post reflecting on East Windsor’s updates, Walmart Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President Kieran Shanahan said, “Anytime we open a new store, expand our supply chain, or remodel an existing location – it’s a meaningful moment for all of us. Creating jobs and providing new services to reach new customers is one of the ways we continue to strengthen our connection with our communities and deliver for the future.”
