NJ Citizen Action, a top progressive advocacy group, has endorsed Analilia Mejia for the 11th congressional district, yet another progressive endorsement going in Mejia’s favor in the district’s crowded Democratic primary.
“Mejia has a long-standing relationship with NJ Citizen Action, working alongside us to advance policies that lift up working families and build a fairer, more affordable New Jersey,” NJCA Executive Director Dena Mottola Jaborska said in a statement. “She is a proven champion for working families. She has partnered with NJ Citizen Action on critical fights to win earned sick and safe days, raise the minimum wage, advance tax fairness, and protect families’ economic security.”
Mejia has a long background in the state progressive circles that NJCA is part of, spending years leading the New Jersey Working Families Party and working for several major unions before that. Another progressive group in that same orbit, the immigration-focused Make the Road Action New Jersey, endorsed Mejia yesterday.
Mejia’s campaign for the 11th district, held until last month by Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill, has also picked up support from Senator Bernie Sanders (her old boss), the Working Families Party, the SEIU State Council and 32BJ SEIU, and, just this morning, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC.
