PrimoHoagies is teaming up with a South Jersey animal shelter to help dogs find loving homes this holiday season.
As part of a newly launched initiative, the Westville-headquartered sandwich franchise will sponsor adoption fees for all large dogs at Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center from Dec. 16 through Dec. 21.
While PrimoHoagies‘ holiday outreach typically focuses on giving gifts to children in need, this year the company sought to broaden its impact to support animal welfare.
Through the program, PrimoHoagies said it hopes to shine a light on the urgent need for adopters – especially for the large dogs who often wait the longest for their forever families.
Between 2022 and 2025, Homeward Bound reported a 34% increase in dog intake, resulting in more than 400 additional lost and homeless dogs entering the shelter, according to PrimoHoagies.
Located at 125 County House Road in Blackwood, Homeward Bound is an open-admission shelter that plays a vital role in caring for homeless animals across the region.
According to organization, all dogs available for adoption through PrimoHoagies’ sponsorship are spayed or neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.

PrimoHoagies’ owner, President and CEO Nicholas Papanier Jr. said, “The holidays are about giving back, and giving back has always mattered to me. This season, we’re honored to partner with a local dog shelter to support the incredible work they do year-round—helping give every dog a safe place, a second chance, and the loving home they deserve.”
Known for its specialty sandwiches made with high-quality meats, cheeses and fresh-baked rolls, the 32-year-old franchise currently has more than 125 locations across the U.S. Within New Jersey, it has a footprint of 30-plus stores. It recently ranked as America’s No. 1 sandwich shop in the USA Today readers’ choice awards for a third year in a row.
