The Philadelphia Eagles were minutes from securing a win vs. the Washington Commanders and clinching another NFC East division title.
But first, a fight between rivals broke out.
Three players were ejected late in the fourth quarter in the Eagles’ win over the Commanders on Saturday night at Northwest Stadium in Virginia.
The Eagles scored a touchdown with two minutes to go to make it an insurmountable 27-10 lead over the Commanders. Then, Nick Sirianni decided to go for a two-point try.
The Eagles converted on a Saquon Barkley run. But immediately after, shoving started, punches were thrown, players had to be separated, and flags went flying.
“There are no flags left in the belt,” FOX play-by-play Joe Davis said. “They’re all on the field.”
After the referees sorted it out, three players were ejected for unnecessary roughness: Eagles offensive lineman Tyler Steen and Commanders defenders Quan Martin and Javon Kinlaw.
Steen, Martin, Kinlaw and others will likely be fined.
We’ll see if Steen’s ejection affects his availability for next Sunday’s game vs. the Buffalo Bills.
