RWJBarnabas Health and reigning National Women’s Soccer League champions Gotham FC have extended their health care partnership. The move continues RWJBarnabas Health‘s role as the club’s official health care provider.
Additionally, it deepens a relationship focused on elite athlete care and community impact across New Jersey.
Under the renewed agreement, RWJBarnabas Health will continue providing comprehensive medical services for Gotham FC players. Types of care include: primary and secondary sports medicine, physicals, imaging, dedicated team physicians, women’s health services and network medical support. The health system’s sports medicine team will work closely with athletic trainers and players on diagnosis, rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance optimization.
In November, Gotham FC took home the 2025 NWSL crown, defeating the Washington Spirit 1-0 in the title game.
Community care

“RWJBarnabas Health is proud to extend our partnership with NWSL Champions Gotham FC because of how the organization and its athletes exemplify excellence, resilience and leadership both on and off the field,” said RWJBarnabas Health President and CEO Mark Manigan. “Together, we are advancing the future of women’s sports by providing world-class, comprehensive care to elite athletes, while strengthening our shared commitment to building a healthier New Jersey.”
“Our partnership with RWJBarnabas Health has delivered meaningful impact from the start, supporting our incredible athletes at the highest level while extending that same care and commitment into the broader community,” said Gotham FC Chief Revenue Officer Alex Chang. “Together, we see a powerful opportunity for RWJBarnabas Health and Gotham FC as true catalysts for advancing health, equity, education and access from the pitch to across the region.”
Community engagement remains a central pillar of the partnership.
Planned initiatives include:
- An expanded RWJBarnabas Health Youth Clinic Series hosted in diverse communities statewide;
- Immersive fan and patient experiences at Gotham FC home matches through the RWJBarnabas Health Community Corner;
- The continuation of annual team hospital visits designed to connect players with patients and staff throughout the RWJBarnabas Health system.
Medical leadership continuity is also a key component of the extension. Dr. Jason Krystofiak will continue as Gotham FC’s chief medical officer. Meanwhile, Dr. Peter DeLuca serves as head team orthopedist and Dr. Peter Tumminelli oversees day-to-day sports medicine responsibilities as team physician.
Additional elements of the partnership include:
- Fan engagement activations at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison;
- In-stadium and media exposure;
- A digital wellness series promoting healthy habits, building on RWJBarnabas Health’s recent sponsorship of Gotham FC’s championship-season social media content.
