A. Andrew Shapiro assumed the chairmanship of the New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers, as of January 2026. He succeeds 2025 NJ CAR Chair Ron Baus Jr. (Spirit Chrysler Dodge Jeep).
Shapiro is dealer principal and co-owner of Hudson Auto Group. He brings more than 33 years of experience in the auto retail industry. His work history includes leadership roles at United Auto Group; DiFeo Auto Group; and his own advisory firm, Casesa Shapiro Group LLC.
Under Shapiro’s leadership, NJ CAR will advocate for New Jersey’s $45 billion auto retail industry and the state’s 37,000 automotive employees.
“The auto retail industry is critical to New Jersey, which is why it is important the industry works collaboratively with state regulatory agencies to ensure consumers have the best car-buying and ownership experience possible,” said Shapiro. “I hope to continue the excellent work of immediate past chairman Ron Baus, and his predecessors, to advocate for the franchised dealers that are the bedrock of hundreds of communities in which we operate. In 2026 we will work to ensure the best possible environment for manufacturers, customers, dealers, and their 37,000 employees throughout New Jersey.”
Shapiro also serves on the boards of Wholesale Auto Supply Co. (WASCO), a cooperative of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut auto dealers. He also serves with Answer the Call, a New York-based nonprofit supporting families of fallen first responders.
NJ CAR President Laura Perrotta praised Shapiro’s leadership.

“Andy is one of the most dedicated dealers I’ve met and his commitment to the industry, and his customers, will serve him well as NJ CAR Chairman,” said Perrotta. “Andy represents another notable example of what franchised dealers mean to their communities. The Coalition will continue to be in good hands under his leadership.”
NJ CAR’s 2026 senior officers also include:
- Vice Chairman Ed Barlow III (Barlow Chevrolet)
- Secretary Michael DeSilva (Liberty Kia)
- Treasurer David Kull (Burns Honda)
