Shake Shack launched its 29th restaurant in New Jersey.
Located at 2401 Route 22 W. in Union, the popular fast-casual burger chain opened Jan. 9 for dine-in and delivery.
Founded 22 years ago by restaurateur Danny Meyer, Shake Shack is known for its made-to-order burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, milkshakes and custard floats.
As part of a global expansion strategy, the brand aims to grow from its current footprint of 655-plus locations to more than 1,500 outposts in coming years.
Shake Shack has boosted its presence within the past few years by launching several eateries locally, including Brick, North Brunswick, Freehold, Old Bridge, Middletown, Edison, Jersey City and Secaucus.
To celebrate its newest spot, Shake Shack will host a Jan. 15 giveaway of miniature custom totes to customers. Shake Shack said it will donate $1 from every burger or sandwich sold that day to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
At Union Plaza in Union, Shake Shack joins a tenant mix that includes Barnes & Noble, ShopRite, Best Buy, DSW, Marshalls, Dollar Tree, Starbucks, Foot Locker and America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses.
Shake Shack is open Sunday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to midnight.
