Atlantic City International Airport is welcoming a new airline.
Breeze Airways announced it will begin service from Atlantic City International Airport, launching two nonstop routes and one one-stop BreezeThru option starting this spring.
Officials held a press conference Jan. 28 at the airport to announce the new service from Breeze Airways, which will offer nonstop flights to Charleston, S.C., and Raleigh-Durham, N.C., as well as one-stop, no-change-of-plane service to Tampa, Fla., with fares starting at $39 one way.
Nonstop service to Charleston will begin May 6, operating Wednesdays and Saturdays with introductory fares starting at $49. Flights to Raleigh-Durham will launch June 11, flying Thursdays and Sundays starting at $39.
Breeze will also introduce BreezeThru service to Tampa on Thursdays and Sundays beginning June 11, allowing passengers to remain on the same aircraft during a brief stop.
“Atlantic City is not only a great destination for travelers, but also a gateway to many other metro areas,” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO, Breeze Airways. “We know Atlantic City will be a welcome addition to our guests in Charleston, Raleigh, and Tampa, and we look forward to introducing our new guests in Atlantic City to Breeze.”
Perks
Breeze Airways launched in 2021. It operates more than 300 year-round and seasonal routes to 84 cities in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. It is known for connecting underserved markets with affordable, direct flights and operates a growing fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The airline offers customer-friendly features such as free family seating, fast onboard Wi-Fi, preferred seating options, and no change or cancellation fees.
The airline has earned national recognition for its approach to low-cost travel, including being named one of Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025. Breeze was also recognized by the Airline Passenger Experience Association as Best Major Airline in North America, and ranked No. 3 Best Domestic Airline by Travel + Leisure in 2025.
“We are excited to welcome Breeze Airways to Atlantic City International Airport and offer our passengers nonstop service to Charleston, S.C. and Raleigh Durham, N.C.,” said Stephen Dougherty, executive director, South Jersey Transportation Authority. “The new routes give travelers from the southern New Jersey/Philadelphia region a more convenient access to two popular and growing destinations, whether they are flying for business, visiting family, or enjoying a weekend getaway.”
This announcement comes on the heels of Allegiant Air’s new service from the Atlantic City airport. It launched two routes beginning last month, with two more to come next month.
“For an airport of our size, expanding service in a way that directly benefits our passengers is especially meaningful, and this announcement reflects our continued focus on delivering a simple, accessible, and customer-friendly travel experience,” said Dougherty.
Taking flight
NJBIZ spoke to Breeze Airways Chief Commercial Officer Lukas Johnson to discuss the big news.
“Really excited to get into the market,” Johnson told NJBIZ, noting that service on these routes is expected to be year-round. “We’re the fastest growing carrier – and Raleigh and Charleston are two of our largest stations that we can connect up to.”
NJBIZ asked what led to the decision to start the service in Atlantic City.
“We serve a lot of smaller and underserved markets throughout the Northeast,” said Johnson, who pointed out that much of the areas in its network are more toward the New England side. “Atlantic City is an area that we didn’t really have coverage in. And therefore, had been actively seeking new entrant airlines – and thought it’d be a great fit to add to our network a new geography.”
Johnson added that “there’s a lot of room for expansion.”
“We’ll start with these routes and see how the guest response is. And if guests love the flights, then we’ll keeping on adding them,” Johnson noted.

About Breeze
The executive shared more about Breeze for those who aren’t familiar with the airline.
“We started flying five years ago coming out of the pandemic. We’ve been the fastest-growing airline in the country,” Johnson explained. “And what really sets us apart is we are a premium leisure airline.
“We’ve got 12 first-class seats up front – we call Breeze Ascent; we’ve got 45 [extra] legroom seats, 80 standard legroom seats, power in every seat,” he continued, pointing to the three seating bundles offered by Breeze – Nice, Nicer, Nicest. “We’ve got fast Wi-Fi, steaming content, brand new Airbus A-220 planes. Our planes have 137 seats and it’s really what we call the ‘Goldilocks’ – and why we have so many markets around the country.
“We have over 80 airports now. It’s smaller than the really big planes you see. But it’s bigger than the small, regional jets that mostly get serviced to smaller and underserved areas. So, that combination allows us to serve so many routes that nobody else is able to offer.”

The conversation closed with how much enthusiasm there is around Breeze’s entry into the market.
“I think it’s excitement on both sides,” said Johnson. “For us, we love putting a new dot on the map. We love getting into a new area and city that we can grow our guest space in. We’ve got the highest guest satisfaction in the country. People love the product – so it’s great on that side.
“And then on the flip side, the leisure tourism, and Atlantic City is interesting. It’s got inbound and outbound traffic. They obviously want more additional service. It’s a huge economic driver on that side. And then for local guests and residents, having access to great, affordable airfare, really high value, really premium nature there – is a win-win for all sides.”
