- Grand opening includes free food for guests in cow attire
- Restaurant will employ about 130 workers
- Chain donates $25,000 to Feeding America for hunger relief
Quick service chain Chick-fil-A is launching its newest restaurant in South Jersey.
Located at 525 N. Delsea Drive in Glassboro, the eatery is set to begin welcoming customers Feb. 12.
Founded in 1946, the family-owned chain is known for its chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and breakfast items. Its North American footprint of 3,300-plus locations includes more than 60 restaurants in New Jersey.
Dress to impress
As part of the grand-opening celebration beginning at 6:30 a.m., Chick-fil-A encourages the community to “show their spots” by wearing cow-related attire, like a full cow suit or accessory. Those who do will be able to redeem a free entrée or kid’s meal for orders placed in person at the drive-thru and inside the restaurant.
According to Chick-fil-A, the offer’s breakfast options are a chicken biscuit, egg white grill or four-count chicken minis.
For lunch or dinner, guests in cow attire can score a chicken sandwich, spicy chicken sandwich, eight-count grilled nuggets or five-count nuggets kid’s meal.
The freebie is limited to one per person in cow attire per day while supplies last. No purchase is necessary, according to Chick-fil-A.
First-day festivities will also include a $25,000 donation to Feeding America in support of local hunger relief efforts.
Additionally, the restaurant plans to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program. The initiative redirects surplus food from the restaurants to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, donations from the effort have created more than 42 million meals, the company said.
525 N. Delsea Drive, Glassboro:
Former bowling alley site
In Glassboro, the newly built 5,400-square-foot Chick-fil-A is located on a parcel that previously housed a bowling alley.
According to the chain, the restaurant will employ 130 workers.
Chick-fil-A Glassboro will be open Monday through Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out and delivery. The outpost also features Mobile Thru, a fully dedicated drive-thru lane where guests can pick up orders placed ahead of time via the Chick-fil-A app.
The upcoming location marks the second Chick-fil-A for local owner-operator Jeff Price.
A Gloucester County native, Smith began his Chick-fil-A career as a high school student and grew through management roles across local restaurants for more than two decades.
In addition to leading the new location in Glassboro, Price will continue to run Chick-fil-A Mantua Square in Sewell, the company said.
“Chick-fil-A Glassboro is designed to be a gathering place that brings friends together, creates moments for families and invites the community to enjoy great food and good company,” said Price. “I’m excited to continue serving this area and to be actively involved in supporting the people who make Glassboro such a special place.”
