Connell Foley has poached five lawyers from rival FBT Gibbons to launch a new corporate restructuring and bankruptcy practice.
The firm is opening an office in Wilmington to support clients’ access to federal and state courts in Delaware.
Robert Malone and Brett Theisen will co-chair the practice, along with Katharina Earle, Dale Barney and Mark Conlon. Earle will run the Wilmington office.
Earlier this year, former Gibbons managing partner Pat Dunican moved to Connell Foley.
“Today’s announcement adds significant expertise to our firm, aligns with Connell Foley’s collaborative, results-driven culture and helps set the stage for what’s next – for both the firm, and for our clients,” Connell Foley managing partner Timothy Corriston stated. “Bob, Brett and Katharina are recognized leaders, along with Dale and Mark. Their collective experience and proven record of success, along with a presence in Delaware, will deliver immediate value to our clients as well as support the continued strategic growth of the firm.”
Connell Foley was the firm of Adrian “Bud” Foley, Jr., a onetime political powerhouse. Foley was 32 when he narrowly defeated former Assemblyman Samuel Saiber to become the Essex County Surrogate in 1954. Foley was slated to become the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate against two-term incumbent Clifford Case in 1966, but he instead became president of the New Jersey Constitutional Convention.
