Tyler Van Dyke recorded two goals and one assist to lead Northern Highlands, No. 13 in the NJ.com Top 20, to a 4-1 victory over Tenafly at the MacKay Ice Rink in Englewood.
Van Dyke opened the scoring 4:32 into the first period with an assist from Carter Beswick. Van Dyke then added an assist on Brooks Strohmeyer’s goal at 3:21 of the opening frame, giving Northern Highlands (12-9-1) a 2-0 lead after one period.
Davin Friedman extended the advantage to 3-0 in the second period with a goal assisted by Jacob Kim at 7:58.
Tenafly (11-12) broke through in the third period when Ben Kushman scored at 12:39 with an assist from Max Lucan. Van Dyke sealed the victory with a shorthanded goal at 4:10, assisted by Strohmeyer, who finished with one goal and one assist.
Northern Highlands goalie Matthew Khaimov made 13 saves on 14 shots. Tenafly goalie Yotam Goldfarb stopped 44 of 48 shots.
