Rob Field, a former deputy chief of staff to Gov. Phil Murphy, is the new deputy township administrator in his hometown of Bridgewater.
Mayor Matt Moench, a Republican, named Field to the post.
“Rob brings vast experience in public sector leadership, extensive bi-partisan engagement with elected officials in every corner of the state, and organizational strategy, and I’m excited for the role he will take on to help Bridgewater and our residents,” said Moench. “Rob will play a crucial role in engaging residents and leaders within our community and working with external stakeholders to cut through red tape and bring down costs for our town.”
The move comes after Democrats picked up three seats on the all-Republican, five-member township council, and Mikie Sherrill carried Bridgewater, once a GOP stronghold. Bridgewater is the second-largest municipality in Somerset County.
Field, popular with local elected officials from both parties, was one of a handful of staffers who joined the governor’s office on Murphy’s first day and ended on his final day eight years later. He previously worked in Jersey City.
“It is the highest honor to be able to serve my hometown and give back to a community that has given so much to me,” Field stated. “I look forward to working with Mayor Moench, the Town Council, and the entire Bridgewater team, as well as our partners across the public and private sectors, to deliver results to the residents of Bridgewater.”
