The basics:
- Breeze Airways adds nonstop ACY–Tampa flights starting July 1
- Service operates Wednesdays and Saturdays, fares from $79 one way
- Breeze fleet features Airbus A220-300 aircraft with premium amenities
- Airline expands at Atlantic City before initial launch
Breeze Airways announced Tuesday a new nonstop route from Atlantic City International Airport to Tampa, Fla.
Taking flight July 1, the addition marks an expansion at ACY for Breeze — before it even begins service.
As NJBIZ reported in January, the premium leisure carrier will start flying from the airport later this year. Breeze will launch two nonstop routes to the Southeast as well as a one-stop, no-change-of-plane route – also known as BreezeThru service – to Tampa.
“Atlantic City is one of our newest markets, and we’re excited to already be expanding our service there,” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways. “The addition of Tampa gives our guests a great Florida destination and reinforces our commitment to growing in the community.”
Breeze flights from ACY to Charleston, S.C., and Raleigh-Durham, N.C., begin May 6 and June 11, respectively. Meanwhile, BreezeThru service also begins June 11.
The new Tampa route will offer service on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Fares start from $79 for one way.
Keeping planes, people and plans moving
Breeze Airways Chief Commercial Officer Lukas Johnson told NJBIZ the airline received a tremendous response following its initial launch announcement, which led to the quick expansion.
“We were really excited about that – and wanted to keep the train moving,” Johnson told NJBIZ. “We were very impressed by the initial response from the community. The response and appetite for the product that we have and kind of the understanding that it was different. It’s truly a new product for AC.”
The airline features a brand-new fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft and premium products, such as free family seating, fast onboard Wi-Fi, preferred seat options, and no change or cancel fees. Breeze – which was named one of Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2025 – aims to make it nice to fly affordably.
Johnson said the company is excited to showcase its products and services to the region.
“Because I think once we start flying, people get on planes – the response can be even greater when you see it. We’re going to be at 86 cities now – and it’s got incredibly high guest satisfaction when people get on the plane, and they start flying. Then tell their friends about what a great experience they had.”
More Breeze blowing through ACY?
He continued, “It’s a unique product: it’s a premium leisure product, it’s a new plane, it’s kind of the perfect size. We got what we call – Choose Your Own Adventure. You’ve got standard legroom seats, extra legroom seats, first-class section called Breeze Ascent.
“It’s phenomenal when people get on board. We have some low-intro fares. Go out and try it out – any of our bundles. It’s free change/cancel. So, there’s no risk on that side. Please go out and experience it. Because the more people fly it, the more that they like it and tell their friends – the more service we’re going to be able to add and stimulate the region.”
Johnson stressed that if Breeze continues to see a strong response, it will continue to add service to ACY.
“I think that’s what’s exciting about it. It’s an area that I think has been starved for options – and that’s why you’re seeing so much activity around it,” said Johnson. He noted how excited the company is to kickoff service, highlighting the strong partnership with the South Jersey Transportation Authority and other airport stakeholders.
SJTA Executive Director Stephen Dougherty said, “We’re pleased to see our newest airline partner, Breeze Airways, expand its plans even before launching service at ACY. Offering Tampa as a nonstop destination beginning July 1 gives our passengers another convenient travel option and strengthens our connectivity to the Southeast.
“We look forward to welcoming the airline’s first flights in May and advancing our commitment to growing air service for the region.”
