Salad House is chopping its way into new markets.
In a recent social media post, the New Jersey-born health-conscious fast-casual brand announced it will open shops in:
- Wayne 625 Hamburg Turnpike
- Metuchen 660 Middlesex Ave.
- Jersey City 15 Exchange Place
- Marlboro 314 Route 9
- Wall 1919 Route 35
Salad House will also continue growing its New York footprint with new outposts in White Plains and Staten Island, the chain said. Additional details on when those sites will come online were not immediately available though Salad House’s website, which promises the locations are “coming soon.”
Launched in 2011, Salad House is geared toward individuals seeking healthy meals on the go. Its specialties include made-to-order salads, sandwiches, grain bowls, wraps, soups and smoothies.
Branching out
After successfully opening shops in Millburn and Morristown, Salad House founder and CEO Joey Cioffi set to work on developing a franchise program.
Now a fully franchised system, Salad House has gone on to add stores in Cherry Hill, Englewood, Hackensack, Livingston, Manahawkin, Montclair, Newark, New Brunswick, Parsippany, Red Bank, Ridgewood, Rutherford, Se-caucus, Sparta, Toms River, Westfield and Westwood. Its first out-of-state spot opened in August 2024 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
During an interview last summer with NJBIZ, Cioffi said he expects the chain to open about 15 locations within the next year.
“We have a special thing going and I just want to share it with everybody,” Cioffi said, adding, “I’m the person that started it and I doubted me. But I’m a dreamer and I still believe this could be a global brand. Why not us?”
Beyond ‘rabbit food’

Cioffi said, “I wanted to create a brand, a business that would kind of satisfy my family and picky eaters like myself who didn’t really love salad.”
“I think the stigma attached to salad is like you’re eating rabbit food, but we really are very hearty. I always joke that one of my favorite optics is seeing two burly construction workers come into Salad House, both eat a salad and share a plate of fries, and them being like ‘that was awesome and we’re full,’” he added.
In recent years, Salad House has emerged as an up-and-coming brand in the healthy dining segment. Foodie website Eat This, Not That! included Salad House in a 2025 ranking of the 10 Best Salad Chains in America.
The company is also celebrating its debut at No. 18 on Fast Casual’s Top 100 Movers & Shakers list for 2025. It was specifically recognized for strong growth and redefining customer experience through technology and social impact.
Additionally, Cioffi was among the honorees recognized during NJBIZ’s inaugural Executive Excellence Awards in August 2025.
