McCarter & English LLP claims the third spot with 169 lawyers in Newark, East Brunswick and Trenton. The firm traces its history to 1844, making it the oldest firm in the rankings.
Archer & Greiner PC and Sills Cummis & Gross PC tie for fourth place, each reporting 138 attorneys. Christopher Gibson leads Archer & Greiner, while Max Crane heads Sills Cummis. Marc Rollo will assume the presidency of Archer & Greiner on Jan. 1, 2026.
Fox Rothschild ranks sixth with 125 attorneys in New Jersey; the firm employs 1,018 attorneys in total across locations.
Changes continue to reshape these firms. Gibbons PC will merge with Frost Brown Todd LLP on Jan. 1, 2026. McCarter & English acquired Ross Law Group in September 2025. Connell Foley added a Hackensack location through its acquisition of Neary Law LLC in July 2025.
