Battleground Country Club has become the 40th property in the Concert Golf Partners portfolio, and the second in the Garden State.
The site combines rich history with modern private club amenities. The 220-acre private club is located in Manalapan. It sits near the historic 1778 Battle of Monmouth site, where George Washington led the Continental Army.
Battleground County Club features a par-71, nearly 7,000-yard golf course. Designed by Hal Purdy, it was renovated in the early 2000s by the Northeast Collaborative. It also offers swimming pools, four tennis courts, a cigar lounge and multiple dining venues. Its Colonial-style clubhouse accommodates weddings and special events for up to 500 guests.
Legendary CBS commentator Jim Nantz worked at the club in the 1970s — an early experience that influenced his lifelong passion for golf.
Owners Michael McCarty and the Maschler Family explained why they chose Concert Golf Partners to continue the club’s legacy. They cited the company’s reputation for long-term stewardship, continuity, investment in amenities and preservation of club culture.
“We are tremendously proud of what we have built at Battleground Country Club since we took ownership in 2009,” said Battleground co-owner Erik Maschler, adding, “We are confident that Concert Golf Partners is the right steward to continue investing in the club as they offer our members a standard of service that enriches and enhances Battleground’s storied tradition.
“We will forever be grateful for the many memories and relationships we have made at the club.”
A natural fit
Jordan Peace, senior vice president of Concert Golf Partners, said the organization seeks out “exceptional private clubs” where thoughtful investment and a member-first approach can further elevate the overall club experience.
Based near Orlando, Concert Golf Partners is a boutique owner and operator dedicated solely to private clubs. It manages properties by investing its own capital, partnering with on-site management and enhancing the member experience while preserving each club’s identity.
Its 40-club portfolio spans the U.S. Battleground joins TPC Jasna Polana in Princeton as Concert Golf’s second New Jersey property.
The company focuses on premier clubs near major metropolitan markets. It says Battleground further expands its presence across the Philadelphia-New Jersey-New York corridor, describing it as a natural fit.
“Concert Golf is deeply committed to upholding the high standards and traditions that define our clubs, and Battleground’s remarkable history and engaged membership make it a natural fit within our portfolio,” said Peace.
