Three Newark Collegiate players finished in double figures as the Essex County Invitational’s 18-seed defeated Newark Global Studies 63-46 in a first-round matchup in Newark.

Seniors Natasha Tejada and Tiyanna Hillman recorded 18 and 15 points, respectively. Tejada added seven rebounds, the same as Skye Singletary, who poured in 15 points.
The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Newark Global Studies. The team is 12-7.
Newark Collegiate (11-5) remains in the tournament and will host an Essex County Invitational quarterfinal game on Friday.
