New Jersey Institute of Technology will dedicate March 26 to a campuswide AI Exploration Day.
The university will repurpose regular class time so students, faculty and staff can examine the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in education, research, work and daily life.
The daylong event will feature panels, workshops and demonstrations as well as a student showcase highlighting AI applications ranging from robotics and large language models to health care diagnostics, financial technologies, sustainable energy systems and more.
Discussions will also address ethics, safety, and environmental concerns tied to AI’s rapid growth.
“AI is changing how we teach, how we conduct research, and how our graduates enter the world,” said NJIT Provost John Pelesko. “That affects every discipline and every person on this campus, and we think it’s important enough to dedicate an entire day to it. AI Exploration Day is our community coming together to make sense of what’s happening, to ask hard questions, and to figure out how we respond.”
Ethan Mollick will deliver the keynote. Mollick is co-director of the Wharton Generative AI Labs at the University of Pennsylvania and author of the bestseller “Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI”.
The event concludes with an industry panel on AI’s impact on business, infrastructure and the workforce.
AI Exploration Day is open to only current NJIT students, faculty, instructors and staff. More information is available here.
