The basics:

Ahead of the spring 2027 debut of Six Flags Great Adventure’s world record-breaking rollercoaster, the Jackson-based theme park is teaming up with Atlantic Highlands-based Shipwreck Rum to offer a limited-edition cocktail.
Available exclusively Oct. 9–11 at the theme park while supplies last, Bakunawa’s Wrath features a blend of white rum, lime rum, blue curacao, grenadine, lemonade and club soda.
A green gummy serpent garnish tops the purple cocktail as a playful nod to the mythical creature the ride is based on, Six Flags said.
According to the theme park operator, Bakunawa’s Wrath will be available starting Oct. 9 at the Sea Gulps stand in the newly transformed Shoreline Pier midway area. Guests must be 21 years of age or older with valid government-issued identification to purchase alcoholic beverages. A price was not immediately available for the cocktail.
The limited-run release also offers a sneak peek of a signature beverage experience that will return next season when Bakunawa officially opens, according to Six Flags.
‘A purple rum bucket worthy of its wrath’
Six Flags Great Adventure Director of Marketing & Sales Ryan Eldredge shared, “Bakunawa has already captured the imagination of our guests, and we wanted to create a fun way for visitors to experience the brand before they ever board the ride.”
“Partnering with a fellow New Jersey company like Shipwreck Rum allowed us to create something uniquely local while giving guests an exciting preview of what’s to come,” he said.
Father-son duo Bob and Zach Brinley founded Shipwreck Rum in 2002. The brand is best known for its lineup of flavored rums, including coconut, vanilla and spiced varieties. The products are made with natural ingredients and hand-crafted on St. Kitts.

Shipwreck Rum grew out of the family’s ties to the Caribbean island. They began making flavored rum there after Bob Brinley’s manufacturing business in St. Kitts closed.
The New Jersey natives went on to establish the brand’s U.S. headquarters in Atlantic Highlands.
Zach Brinley, the company’s “chief bootlegger,” shared, “New Jersey has always had a taste for thrills — from its legendary bootlegging past to today’s record-breaking coasters. Being a New Jersey-based brand, this collaboration with Six Flags feels like a perfect meeting of two worlds that are very close to our heart.”

“Bakunawa’s Wrath is our way of bringing the spirit, flavor and energy of the Caribbean to New Jersey, while celebrating the arrival of an incredible new coaster,” he said. “We wanted to create something bold, memorable and adventurous and there’s no better way to celebrate Bakunawa than with a purple rum bucket worthy of its wrath. Get ready to ride the coaster, toast the beast and get Shipwreck’d!”
Rolling ahead
After demolishing the Kingda Ka coaster in early 2025, Six Flags began constructing on what will establish its 15th roller coaster.
According to Six Flags, Bakunawa will use three high-speed launches to propel riders to speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Then, it will climb its 382 foot tower. Riders sit in floorless, free-spinning seats that also rotate naturally throughout the 2-minute, 17-second trip. The effect creates a different combination of spins, views and sensations every time.

Bakunawa ranks as one of the five tallest roller coasters on the planet. Additionally, it will earn bragging rights as the world’s:
- Fastest spinning coaster 100 miles per hour
- Tallest spinning coaster 382 feet
- Fastest inversion 80 miles per hour
- Longest stall inversion
- First floorless spinning coaster
- First upside-down launch
Six Flags recently reported that crews installed the final section of track, moving onto the next phase of construction. Work now shifts toward electrical infrastructure, ride control systems, mechanical installation, queue construction and operational components to prepare the attraction for testing.
