The day after Inserra ShopRite opened doors on its new Jersey City store, the mixed-use development that houses it has followed suit.
Located at 99 Provost St., adjacent to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, transit-oriented Everton comprises 802 market-rate apartments and reaches 60 stories.
Beyond the 85,000-square-foot supermarket, the 18-acre project from BGRE and G&S Investors also features 19,000 square feet of ground-floor retail across master-planned neighborhood Hudson Exchange’s six-block footprint.
The project broke ground in 2023. Brookfield Properties since rebranded to BGRE. It represents the second phase of the larger redevelopment project.
Currently, the site houses VYV North and VYV South – two 36-story luxury apartment buildings with 850 residential units, 20,000 square feet of retail space and 450 parking spots.
Like other parts of the city, the project marks the conversion of former industrial space into waterfront living. Hudson Exchange will include more than 20,000 square feet of public green space.
In addition to preserved community anchor ShopRite, which relocated from Marin Boulevard, and a ShopRite Wine & Spirits, other retailers set to open at a later date include Goldfish Swim School, Modcup Coffee and a new restaurant concept in development from the team behind Izakaya Kumade.
The residential component features studio, one, two and three-bedroom layouts. From the seventh floor up, each apartment features views of the Hudson River, Manhattan skyline and Jersey City. Along with floor-to-9-foot-high-ceiling windows, luxury touches include stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, backlit bathroom vanity mirrors, in-home washer and dryers and more.
