HOBOKEN (WABC) — The Hoboken PATH Terminal is shut down through Tuesday to fix track problems linked to a rehabilitation project.
The terminal was closed for 25 days in February for the $31 million project to rehabilitate the station.
The centerpiece was replacing the track interlocking, a complicated junction allowing trains to switch between three station tracks and those to the Hudson River tunnels.
But a problem with the interlocking caused a July 12 derailment, which resulted in more than a month of track work and resulting delays.
To complete those repairs and restore rush hour schedules to trains every eight minutes, PATH’s Hoboken Terminal is closed until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2.
There will be alternate travel options during that period.
