Authorities have charged a Cumberland County man in a fatal shooting from two years ago.
Terry Stocks, 29, of Bridgeton, was arrested Saturday in the 2023 killing of Brian Pineda, 25, also of Bridgeton, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday.
Police responded to Mount Vernon Street on the evening of Sept. 3, 2023, for a report of a shooting victim and found Pineda in his residence suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead a short time later, the prosecutor’s office said.
An investigation by Bridgeton Police and the prosecutor’s office revealed that a confrontation between Pineda and Stocks took place in the roadway where the shooting occurred, officials said.
Stocks was charged with first-degree murder and second-degree charges of possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Court records didn’t list attorney information for Stocks as of Tuesday afternoon.
The state will seek to have him jailed while he awaits trial, the prosecutor’s office said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Christopher Zanni or Detective Joseph Brown of the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 856-453-0486.
