WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Kyle Vellis threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Erik Garv on fourth down with 2:04 remaining and the TCNJ football team beat Lycoming, 27-24, on Saturday afternoon to make coach Tyler Moody a winner in his debut.
Facing 4th-and-1, Vellis drew the Warriors offside and took a shot to the outside, lofting a high-arcing pass down the right sideline. With a half-step on his man, Garv laid out for a full-extension grab, diving into the end zone with the first touchdown of his career.
Justin Kurc intercepted a pass on the ensuing possession to secure the Lions (1-0) a season-opening victory.
Joe Visaggio gained 125 yards on 21 carriers and scored a touchdown.

EWING — Emily Weidner and Taylor Krott scored goals for the Lions (1-1-1), but the 17th-ranked Violets (2-1) spoiled the home opener after they tallied a pair of second-half goals.

HAMDEN, Conn. — Ava Ferrie staked the Broncs (1-3-2, 0-1) to a third-minute lead in their MAAC opener, but the Bobcats (1-3-1, 1-0) got an equalizer form Milena Branco in the 26th minute and winner from Morgan Cupo in the 51st minute.
