Interstate Waste Services Inc. is expanding its presence in Connecticut.
In a Sept. 22 press release, the Teaneck-based hauler announced its acquisition of North Atlantic Waste & Recycling. Based in North Haven, the family-operated company serves Central and Southern Connecticut.
The announcement did not disclose financial terms.
Formerly known as County Disposal, North Atlantic Waste & Recycling’s territory includes residential and commercial customers across Fairfield, Hartford, Middlesex and New Haven counties. Along with collection services, the company offers dumpster rentals in a variety of sizes.
As part of the agreement, IWS will integrate North Atlantic Waste & Recycling’s full-service offerings, employees and fleet of vehicles into its operations, the press release said.

In a statement, IWS founder and CEO Mike DiBella said, “This acquisition strengthens our presence in Connecticut and affirms our ongoing commitment to delivering dependable, community-focused service. Together, we’re building on a shared legacy of operational excellence and customer-first values to better serve the region.”
Mike Couden, owner of North Atlantic Waste & Recycling, shared, “After decades of serving our community as a family-owned business, we’re proud to join forces with Interstate Waste Services. IWS shares our commitment to reliability, integrity, and putting customers first. This partnership ensures our legacy continues while enhancing the resources and support available to our team and the communities we serve.”
