Democrats running for the 11th legislative district’s Assembly seats launched an ad on Wednesday featuring state Sen. Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch), their popular districtmate from the upper chamber.
Assemblywomen Margie Donlon (Ocean Twp) and Luanne Peterpaul (D-Long Branch) are seeking re-election in the 11th, a competitive Monmouth County district. The 30-second TV ad features Gopal joking about not talking about himself before commending Donlon and Peterpaul.
The release did not specify how much money would back the ad.
The Democrats, who first won election to the Assembly in 2023, will face real estate professional Jessica Ford and former Neptune City Mayor Andrew Wardell in the November general election.
Script:
“And … action! A politician getting in an ad and not talking about himself? That’s got to be a first. I’m Vin Gopal. Proud to be your state senator here in Monmouth County. I’m here to talk about my partners, Dr. Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul. Thanks to Margie and Luanne, we’re finally going to see real property tax relief. Renters are getting help too. This election isn’t about Republicans and Democrats. It’s about you and your family’s future. So I’m asking you to vote for both Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul for Assembly.”
