They’re back! After word Field Station: Dinosaurs would close in Bergen County following more than a decade of roaring fun, the iconic attraction is rolling the dice on a new home.
Showboat Resort Atlantic City is expanding its family-friendly resort, purchasing the full collection of 30 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs to create a new attraction adjacent to the beachfront property.
Field Station: Dinosaurs announced its next phase Nov. 6, ahead of its final days in Leonia. The organization said Showboat plans to open the new attraction in spring 2026.
This move marks the latest addition to Showboat Atlantic City. In January, the resort owned by Bart Blatstein received a $4.2 million grant from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority to expand its Family Entertainment Center. The funding comes via the Atlantic City Revitalization Grant Program. The work includes:
- 18,000-square-foot expansion to the Lucky Snake Arcade and Raceway
- Purchase and installation of additional arcade games as well as attractions
- Construction of an open-air entryway along the Showboat’s boardwalk façade
- Additional food and beverage outlets
- Installation of a 10-lane bowling alley and a kids play area with private party rooms
Showboat Atlantic City did not answer the phone and a representative for the company did not immediately return a request for comment.
A new beginning

Following 13 years in Leonia Field Station: Dinosaurs will operate for four final days, Nov. 6–9. Since opening, the unique attraction has hosted more than 1 million visitors.
Situated in Overpeck County Park, Field Station: Dinosaurs engages children – as well as adults – with walking trails, live entertainment, hands-on activities and more.
“Knowing that our dinosaurs will live on and continue their mission of sparking curiosity and imagination is the perfect ending to our story,” commented Guy Gsell, executive producer of Field Station: Dinosaurs. “We’re incredibly proud of the experience we created here in Leonia and excited to see it evolve in Atlantic City.”
