“Upscale” Nikkei Spot is Taking Over for The Hill in Closter
A new restaurant from the team behind Verana and Mykos is coming soon to Bergen County.
Nikki Nikkei is preparing to open at 252 Schraalenburgh Road in Closter, taking over The Hill as the property changes concepts under new ownership.
The new restaurant will feature a 62-seat dining room and an upscale menu centered around ceviches, tiraditos, crudos and Nikkei-style grilled dishes.
A cocktail-driven bar program will also be a major part of the concept, complementing the restaurant’s Latin and Japanese-influenced menu.
Nikki Nikkei comes from the team behind Verana in Norwood, which opened in 2022, and Mykos in Northvale, which followed in 2025.
The group has described the project as a “NYC-caliber experience in the suburbs of NJ,” with hiring currently underway as preparations continue.
An opening date has not yet been announced.
